Logic
The Art of Reasoning & Clear Thought
Logic is the study of how we reason and draw conclusions. It helps us separate strong arguments from weak ones and avoid being misled by emotion, habit, or assumption. Freemasons have traditionally valued logic as a safeguard against error and unfairness, believing that clear reasoning strengthens both individuals and society.
Your Task
In 750–1,000 words, describe a situation where reasoning—good or bad—played an important role. You may draw from: Math or computer science classes A science lab or experiment A debate, argument, or decision A time you changed your mind after reconsidering evidence A situation where faulty reasoning caused a problem
Reflect on: How conclusions were reached Whether assumptions were questioned What you learned about thinking carefully under pressure You do not need to prove you are always logical. Growth matters more than certainty.
